Mabou Loiseau is not only one of the most gifted children I have heard about in years, but is also my personal role model and someone I hope to be like when I grow up.
At 8 years old, she speaks 8 languages AND plays 8 instruments.
This little girl speaks English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Mandarin, Creole and sign language. Among the instruments she is skilled in playing, she excels at the harp, clarinet, violin, guitar and piano. But I’m sitting here barely playing chopsticks on the piano.
Mabou is the product of a hard working Haitian household, where her parents spend $1,500 a week on tutors and lessons and she spends seven hours a day in some type of instruction, taking Sundays off.
Some call this child abuse or denying her a childhood, while others call it setting her up for a bright and beautiful future.
