About Damn Time! Marvel Casts First Black Lead

Chadwick Boseman is helping Marvel usher in a new age of super hero and in the process, make history.

37 year old Boseman was recently announced as the actor that will play the lead role of Marvel Comics superhero, Black Panther, in the 2017 movie. This marks the FIRST time a black actor will play the lead in a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Hollywood.

After playing real life superheros like Jackie Robinson and James Brown, Boseman will now take on the role of T’Challa, leader of the fictional nation of Wakanda and the Black Panther’s alter ego. I’m not gonna lie…I did a little research on Black Panther and am a little upset at how ridiculously ethnic his story is compared to many of the other heroes, but I will wait and see how they pull off the movie before I pass judgment (but the first loin cloth I see…I’m out).

Truthfully, I don’t understand why it’s taken so long for black actors to be cast as leads in superhero films. Don’t stunt like the average black man isn’t built like a superhero…it’s about time Hollywood start admitting it.
