At Just 12 Years Old, He Became The Youngest Black Chess Master…EVER

On December 26, 2010, at just 12 years of age, child prodigy Joshua Colas became the youngest black Chess Master in history.

To earn this accolade, you must achieve a ranking of at most 2200 by the United States Chess Federation (USCF).

In the past five years since his massive accomplishment, Colas has gone on to win the 2013 and 2015 New York City AND New York State High School Chess Championships.

He’s now only 17, but with a resume like this already, only greater things can be in store for this young man.
