Brazil may have lost (to put it lightly) in the World Cup games, but beginning this past Friday, July 18 they are showing New Yorkers (and therefore other states and countries with residents visiting NYC) that they are still winners when it comes to knowing how to have an AMAZING time.
Over the next 6 days, around 15 acts showcasing a wide array of Brazil’s musical offerings will play at venues across the city for the fourth annual Brazil Summerfest.
Founder Petrit Pula is excited about the extra boost this years festival will surely receive thanks to his country’s hosting of the World Cup. His event aims to provide Brazilian artists with a big platform. And he has done just that, with this years lineup including Bebel Gilberto, Lenine, who combines traditional Brazilian sounds with eletronica and Roge, the modern samba star with a surfer boy image who is often called the Brazilian Jack Johnson.
If the festival is anything like the street parties in Brazil, this is something you want to visit at least once.
