Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West Advances to Little League US World Championship

This past Thursday, Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West Little League team beat rival Taney of Philadelphia by a score of 6-5 to earn their spot in the U.S. Championship game taking place tomorrow.

This marks the first time since the league split into two pools, US and international, that a team from Illinois has made it to the national championship. What makes it even sweeter is that this team is predominantly filled with players of color, giving them a chance to showcase their talents on a large stage to which they may not have otherwise had access.

The team will face Mountain Ridge of Las Vegas, Nevada this Saturday for the national title.

Good luck!
