Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino To Voice Animated Spiderman

The oh so talented Donald Glover, better known by his stage name Childish Gambino, is adding another section to his resume. The celebrated comedic writer for shows including 30 Rock and Community and rapper of hit songs such as Freaks and Geek will now be fulfilling a long-standing desire to be Spiderman.

Back in 2010, after a fan’s suggestion, Glover expressed interest in playing the lead role in The Amazing Spiderman. His fans took his request seriously and even created a social media movement to try and get him selected for the part, which ultimately went to Andrew Garfield.

Yet every dog has its day and Glover sill son realize his wish as he will be lending his voice to the Half-Hispanic, half-black Spider Man alter ego, Miles Morales on an episode of Disney XD’s animated series, Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors.

I guess baby steps are better than no steps at all. It would be nice if the only Spiderman of color didn’t have to be a cartoon and could actually be a real black man…

Nonetheless, congratulations to Donald Glover and we hope to see you on the big screen soon in the same role.
