Cali rapper Kendrick Lamar just dropped his new album, “To Pimp A Butterfly” and his fans’ reaction only reiterates this young MC’s talent and reach.
In just it’s first day out, Spotify states the album was streamed a record-breaking 9.6 million times, making for a world record and beating the last record holder, Drake (“If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late”), who held strong at 6.8 million streams.
This is Lamar’s second album in three years, debuting after many patiently waited since his 2012 highly successful album, “good kid, m.A.A.d City”.
While this is great for Kendrick, this is also a sign that REAL artists with REAL music and messages can still get the recognition they deserve and that #hiphopisnotdead
