New Captain America is BLACK

The new national colors (at least as far as Marvel is concerned) are red, white, blue…and black.

Marvel Comics announced late this past Wednesday that Captain America’s reign will be taken on by his long-time ally, Falcon, who is a high flying black man from Harlem.

Said Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort when asked for his take on the news, “In 2014 this should be a thing that we shrug off, it shouldn’t be seen as revolutionary, but it still feels exciting.”

In the most recent storyline, Falcon assumes the role and responsibilities of current Captain America, Steve Rogers, after Rogers is turned into a 90 year old man. The change will take place in the first issue of a new series, “All New Captain America”, set to launch in November of this year.

We hope they make this into a movie in the future. If they do, actor Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon in the Captain America movie, would most likely be the front runner for the role.
