Sanaa Lathan to Star In & Executive Produce Omar Tyree’s “Flyy Girl”

If you’re anything like me, you may have been wondering what happened to our best friend in our heads, Sanaa Lathan lately? After not seeing much of her on the big or little screen as of lately, many have begun to wonder if she was quietly bowing out of the limelight.

After singlehandedly OWNING the lead role in what will always be one of my Top 5 movies (if you’re not sure what movie it is, that’s exactly why we’re not friends), Lathan is making her return to the silver screen for the movie adaptation of Omar Tyree’s best-sellingĀ Flyy Girl.

Lathan will executive produce and star in the film as Tracey Ellison, a girl from the hood with a love for materialistic things, who becomes a successful businesswoman and mistakenly equates money with happiness.

After bringing in $30 million in sales and being read by over 8 million people worldwide, this book trilogy is set to make a big splash when it hits theatres. There is no set release date as of yet, but Academy-Award winning Geoffrey Fletcher will be writing the script, which will be backed by Lionsgate.

Will you be seeing this when it comes out?
