At just 32 years of age, Serena Williams is and can easily call herself a legend. What makes this 32 year old tennis idol as amazing a person as she is an athlete, is the fact that she would never take herself seriously enough to call herself legendary.
This past Saturday, Williams made history by joining only two other tennis players, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, in the most elite of elite Winners’ Circles. She became only the third player in the history of the game to win an 18th Grand Slam singles title after beating Caroline Wozniacki, one of the top 10 women’s players in the world.
Williams won her first Grand Slam title 15 years ago at the tender age of 17 and since then has been kicking a$$ and taking numbers.
Congratulations to Serena for not only showing what hard work and determination can help you achieve, but for helping to continue to pave the way in a sport that is not the most racially diverse when it comes to the players.
