After much prodding and pushing by friends, ABC’s The Chew co-host, Carla Hall finally realized her next step should be opening a NY restaurant.
She just had two conditions; it had to be southern cuisine AND the funds hand to be raised via crowdsourcing, to eliminate having to please the needs of multiple financial investors.
In late September, Hall created a campaign on Kickstarter to raise the necessary $250,000 to get the restaurant off the ground. The campaign ended this past Wednesday, bringing in over $264,000 from 1,550 supporters.
Hall says other private investors, including a business partner, will help raise several million dollars to fund the restaurant’s launch.
Judging from Hall’s extensive career in the food industry, you will catch me FIRST in line when the restaurant opens in Summer 2015.
